No. 10 Wolverines clip No. 5 ranked Robert Morris in a shootout

DEARBORN, Mich. - The University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team skated away with a thrilling 2-1 victory in a shootout against highly-ranked Robert Morris University-Illinois Friday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

The No. 10 Wolverines and the No. 5 Eagles exchanged chances late in the third period and in overtime before a shootout decided the game. It was the ninth straight win for the Wolverines who improved to 13-5-1 on the season.

Kevin Bechard (SO/Trenton, Mich.) continued his recent hot play, scoring the lone regulation goal for the home team. Justin Dunn (FR/Trenton, Mich.) and Nic LaBurn (SO/Northville, Mich.) picked up the assists on the game-tying goal, which came just 40 seconds after a giveaway from goaltender Thomas Proudlock (SO/Southgate, Mich.) behind the net resulted in an unassisted goal for RMU's Alex Anderson.

Led by Laburn and Ryan Urso (JR/Livonia, Mich.), the Wolverines peppered Robert-Morris with five shots in the overtime period and outshot the Eagles 38-35 through 65 minutes of play.

Kyle Schnettler (FR/Metamora, Mich.) scored the lone shootout goal and Proudlock stopped all three Eagle attempts to earn his sixth victory of the season.

The Wolverines conclude the weekend series with the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
