No. 2 Ohio edges UM-Dearborn in Shootout

ATHENS, Ohio - The No. 11 University of Michigan-Dearborn men's ice hockey team fell to No 2 Ohio University in the opener of a two-game weekend series Friday in Athens, Ohio.

Kevin Bechard got the Wolverines on the board 40 seconds into the game on an emotional goal as UM-Dearborn came out strong playing in the team's first game since the tragic death teammate of Ben McPartlin. Ryan Urso doubled the Wolverine lead early in the third on a 5-on-3 power-play goal.

Ohio broke through with a goal midway through the third and got the equalizer shortly thereafter. Regulation ended with the teams tied at 2-2 and the game winner did not come in the overtime period. The decision went to a shootout, which the Bobcats won.

The teams continue the weekend series at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Athens.
