Adrian Downs Hockey in Overtime

Dearborn, MI - The 12th ranked men's hockey team ended the regular season Saturday night with a 3-2 overtime loss to the 6th ranked Adrian College Bulldogs. This was the third meeting between the two teams this year with the Wolverines winning the first two by one goal in regulation and in overtime. Adrian scored the game's first goal just over five minutes into the game. Less than a minute later, freshman Nic LaBurn would tie the game. Freshman Kris Wilson would give Michigan-Dearborn a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Scoring became scarce as it looked as though neither team would score in the second period, until the Bulldogs tied the game with seconds remaining in the second period. Both goalies stood firm in the third period as neither offense could score in the period. The game went into overtime tied at 2-2. It did not take long for Adrian to score in overtime as Ted Anstett put one past sophomore goalie Nate Ferris giving the Bulldogs the 3-2 overtime win.

With the regular season over, next up is the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) Playoffs hosted by Michigan-Dearborn. The tournament begins Thursday night with Rochester College playing Eastern Michigan at 8:00pm. The Wolverines will open the GLCHL playoffs on Friday at 8:00pm against Indiana Tech.
