Proudlock Gets Shutout in First Start as Hockey Wins 5-0

Kent, OH - With the hockey team needing a win to keep on track for a berth in the ACHA National Tournament next month, they turned to a player who just joined the team last month and had not played in a game this season. Freshman goalie Thomas Proudlock made his Michigan-Dearborn debut and turned away all 29 shots that Kent State fired at him as the Wolverines won 5-0. Proudlock joined the team at the semester break and just saw his first game action Saturday. Sophomore Andrew Palushaj scored in the first period and that was the only goal scored until the third period.

Michigan-Dearborn would score four times in the third period to split the weekend series against the Golden Flashes. Sophomore Jeff McFarland continued his hot streak as he scored twice in the third period. Senior Ryan Kelly and freshman John Barlow also scored in the third period. Palushaj also added two assists for a three point night for him. The Wolverines outshot Kent State 39-29 for the game. With the win, Michigan-Dearborn secured the # 3 seed for the GLCHL playoffs which open up on February 18th. The men's ice hockey team will play their final regular season game on Saturday against Adrian College at home at 7:30pm.
