LaBurn's Overtime Goal Leads Hockey Past Adrian

Dearborn, MI - It was built to be a great hockey series this weekend between the 13th ranked Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines and the 5th ranked Adrian College Bulldogs, and game one proved to be great. Michigan-Dearborn took a 2-0 lead after goals from freshman Tyler Groat and sophomore Jeff McFarland just 18 seconds apart. Adrian would answer with one goal in the first period.

Adrian carried that momentum into the second period scoring two goals taking a 3-2 lead into the third period. It was not looking good for the Wolverines, but junior Gino Darin scored a power play late in the third period sending the game into overtime. Just over a minute into overtime, freshman Nic LaBurn scored the game winner giving Michigan-Dearborn a 4-3 win. Sophomore goalie Nate Ferris made 31 saves in earning the victory. The two teams square off again Saturday night at 7:00 at Adrian.
