Hockey Falls in Overtime to Indiana Tech

Dearborn, MI - After scoring 15 goals in the first two games of the Great Lakes Showcase, the men's ice hockey team ran into a hot goalie on Sunday and lost 3-2 in overtime. The Wolverines fired 48 shots on Indiana Tech's Zach Larson, but Larson proved he was up to the task making 46 saves in the game. Indiana Tech opened up the scoring just four minutes into the game. That would be the only goal of the first period. Michigan-Dearborn would respond with two goals in the second period. Freshman Kevin Bechard scored the game's equalizer just under five minutes into the second period. Just over a minute later, sophomore Andrew Palashaj gave the Wolverines a 2-1 lead on his unassisted goal. Indiana Tech would tie the game with four minutes remaining in the second period.

Neither team scored in the third period sending the championship game to overtime. Each team had opportunities to win, and Indiana Tech's Jarrett Pfeiffer would end the game scoring his second goal of the game giving the Warriors the 3-2 win and the Great Lakes Showcase Championship. Michigan-Dearborn goalie Nate Ferris made 29 saves in the loss. The men's ice hockey team will next play Rochester College on Friday, December 4th at home at 7:30pm.
