Urso's Big Game Leads Hockey to Great Lakes Showcase Championship Game

Dearborn, MI - Men's Ice Hockey sophomore Ryan Urso had four points, two goals and two assists to lead Michigan-Dearborn to a 6-2 victory over Michigan State Saturday night in the Great Lakes Showcase. The win for the Wolverines puts them in the championship game for the second consecutive year. Michigan-Dearborn (10-3-0-1) will play Indiana Tech, who defeated Central Michigan on Saturday, at 4:00pm on Sunday.

Michigan State scored a power play goal five minutes into the game giving the Spartans an early 1-0 lead. Michigan-Dearborn would answer late in the first period when freshman Tyler Dalton scored his second goal of the season tying the game at one heading into the first intermission. The Wolverines controlled the second period scoring three goals giving them a 4-1 lead heading into the third period. Junior Gino Darin scored the first goal of the period while Urso scored the other two goals including a power play goal. After Michigan State scored five minutes into the third period, Michigan-Dearborn responded with two more goals to win 6-2. Freshman Tyler Groat and Tyler Dalton along with Darin each had one goal and one assist. Sophomore Nate Ferris made 27 saves in the win.
