Offense Struggles as Davenport Sweeps Hockey

Grand Rapids, MI - The 12th ranked Davenport University Panthers hockey team swept the 17th ranked Wolverines this weekend. Michigan-Dearborn came into the weekend averaging over 5 goals a game but could muster only one goal in the weekend series. On Friday night, Davenport dominated Michigan-Dearborn as they won 9-1. The Panthers applied pressure all night on junior goalie David Bryant and scored three goals in the first period and never looked back. On Saturday, the two teams tangled again, this time in Grand Rapids. Once again, Davenport was able to shut down the Wolverines offense in downing Michigan-Dearborn 4-0. Sophomore Nate Ferris was back in the net for the Wolverines but for the second straight night the offense could not get rolling. The hockey team has two weeks off before they get back into action when they take on Eastern Michigan University on October 30th at 7:30pm at the Taylor Sportsplex.
