Hockey Defeats Oakland 4-3

Dearborn, MI - The hockey team got back to its winning ways Friday night as they defeated Oakland University 4-3 in the team's home opener. Oakland scored the only goal in the first period as Ryan Rotondi snuck one past sophomore goalie Nate Ferris.

The Wolverines once again relied on the underclassmen as sophomore Andrew Palushaj tied the game with an unassisted goal in the second period. The score would remain tied until freshman Tyler Groat scored a natural hat trick in the third period, and Ferris held off a late flurry to give Michigan-Dearborn the 4-3 victory. Palushaj assisted on Groat's first goal while sophomore defenseman Ryan Urso assisted on two goals as well. Ferris made 25 saves in earning the win. The two teams will battle it out again on Saturday at 7:30pm at the Onyx Ice Arena.
