Hockey Puts on Offensive Show in Winning 7-1 at Navy

Annapolis, MD - The men's ice hockey team came into their opening weekend ranked 21st in the pre-season ACHA rankings. On Friday night they took on the 24th ranked United States Naval Academy. The long bus ride did not affect the Wolverines as they came out firing on all cylinders. Junior Gino Darin got the scoring going early as six different Wolverines would score in the 7-1 victory. Sophomore Jeff McFarland proved there is no such thing as a sophomore slump by scoring two goals and adding one assist. The freshmen got involved as well. Freshmen Nic LaBurn and Tyler Groat each had a goal while sophomore Andrew Palushaj added one goal and one assist. Sophomore goalie Nate Ferris got the win. The hockey team will look for the sweep as the two teams will go at it again on Saturday at 7:30pm.
